What Clients Should Know Beforehand
A healing session – whether it involves Energy Work, Sound Healing, Reiki, Chakra Balancing, or another holistic modality – is a deeply personal and restorative experience. To get the most from your session, some preparation can go a long way. Here’s what you need to know:
1. Set an Intention
Take a few minutes before your session to reflect on what you hope to receive.
Ask yourself:
- What area of my life or body needs support right now?
- Am I open to releasing something—stress, fear, tension, grief?
You don’t need to have all the answers – just being open is enough. Intentions help guide the energy of the session.
2. Hydrate and Nourish Gently
- Drink water before and after the session to support energy flow and detoxification.
- Eat lightly – avoid heavy or greasy meals beforehand, as they can make you feel sluggish or distracted.
- Avoid alcohol or recreational substances 24 hours before your session.
3. Dress Comfortably
- Wear loose, non-restrictive clothing. You may be lying down or seated for extended periods.
- Avoid excessive jewellery or belts that may interfere with energy flow.
- Bring a cozy layer (like a shawl or sweater) in case you feel cool during the session.
4. Minimize Stimulants
- Try to avoid caffeine a few hours before your session. It can make it harder to relax or stay grounded.
- If you use essential oils or perfumes, apply them lightly or not at all unless they are part of the treatment.
5. Arrive in a Calm State
- Give yourself time to arrive a few minutes early so you’re not rushed or stressed.
- Silence your phone and disconnect from digital distractions.
- If possible, avoid scheduling anything too demanding immediately afterward—allow time to process and rest.
6. Be Open-Minded and Receptive
- You don’t need to “do” anything during the session – just breathe and receive.
- It’s natural for emotions, memories, or physical sensations to come up. This is part of the healing process.
- Trust the session is working, even if the effects are subtle or delayed.
7. Share What’s Relevant
Before the session begins, your practitioner may ask about:
- Your current physical or emotional state
- Any recent life events, trauma, or stress
- Medications, health conditions, or sensitivities
- Prior to your first healing session, your Practitioner will require you to fill out any relevant forms – this may include personal information such as name, address, contact details etc, a medical questionnaire amongst other information. A Disclaimer and Confidentiality Statement must also be completed and signed.
- Be honest – everything you share is confidential and helps tailor the session to your needs.
8. Aftercare
- Drink water and rest, especially if you feel tired or emotional.
- Journal any thoughts, insights, or sensations you experienced.
- Allow space in your day to remain calm and inward-focused, if possible.
- Healing often continues to unfold in the hours or days after the session.
Final Note
Every healing journey is unique. Come with an open heart, a gentle curiosity, and a willingness to receive. Whether you leave feeling deeply relaxed, emotionally lighter, or simply more grounded, your body and spirit will thank you.
